How I Got Started:
Ever since I can remember I have been infatuated with telling stories and making people laugh. I would make cameras out of paper and walk around the house pretending to film mini episodes of my life. For Christmas one year, my parents got me a camcorder. It had a screen that you could flip around to face yourself when you were recording. I started "vloging" and made a mini-series called "What are they up to" that was just me going around the house asking my family members what they were doing. This was the beginning of my love for making content. When the app "Vine" came out, I was hooked. I made hundreds of videos, most of which were comedic. The app no longer exists but I think that is where I began thinking about the possibilities of making a career from social media. When I was a freshman in High School, two of my friends and I made a youtube channel. We would film challenges and different "tags" that were trending. That channel died out fast. It wasn't until my senior year in High School that I created my own YouTube channel and began producing my own content. I learned the ways of editing and found new ways to add a comedic flare to my videos. My YouTube channel is something I am very proud of as hours of work has been put into its existence. After going to college, I stopped posting regularly as the time demand was too much to keep up with along with my school work, but I plan to begin posting again soon. However, during this time, I discovered an app called TikTok. It's an app where you can post videos up to 60 seconds long. It also has the ability to film and edit within the app which cuts down time dramatically. I since have gained over 170 thousand followers on this app and have established myself as a creator. I am excited to see what opportunities may come from this but until then, I will keep trying to make people laugh.
